Acne scars are caused by picking and popping your
pimples. After a pimple is popped it bleeds and
the skin is left open leaving the area vulnerable to infection. Then,
after a few days, you have a dry scab. Here are some ways to stop the
acne scarring.
Stop popping! It will only make things worse and possibly cause
permanent scarring. If you can't help but pop one, be
certain that the area and your fingers are disinfected. After popping,
gently clean the area with warm water and a clean cloth, then apply ice
to the popped pimple for a minute or two. This will
minimize swelling.
Stick with your regular acne routine. Continue your
regimen to make sure that no new acne appears. For a good

Often, the best way of dealing with acne scars is to just allow your
body to do the work. Keep the scar areas clean and avoid using make-up
on the area.
Use a Scar Treatment. You can try Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne
Mark Fading Peel. Mederma is also a good "spot" treatment. For "ice
picks" or "crater-like" scars, which are actual dents in the skin, often
the most effective treatment is seeing a doctor.
Moisturize and protect your skin. It is always a good idea to use an
oil-free moisturizer with SPF. Try DERMAdoctor Body Guard Exquisitely Light SPF 30, 4 oz .
Stop touching your face. Your hands will conduct oil to an infected
area.
Scars are more evident on pale skin. You can help prevent this with a
safe self-tanner.
Neosporin is also good for minimizing healing time and causing fewer
scars. There is also Neosporin Scar Solution.
Some people have also found plain yogurt useful to help fade scars.
Apply it to the troublesome areas twice daily.
Aloe vera, vitamin E ,
Shark Liver Oil and
Cocoa Butter may work for your
skin as well.
You can use lemon on scars. Lemon Juice will help kill acne causing
bacteria.
Never Pick at the scabs. Picking will only make things worse.
If your acne ruptures without you even touching it, you need to seek the
advice of a dermatologist. Bleeding is not normal and could be a sign of
infection and/or allergies.
