Causes of Acne

Many myths surround the causes of acne. We've all heard them. Eating chocolate, having a dirty face, not bathing properly, which are all false. In fact, the causes of acne are very simple. When your skin sheds, it can block pores which will result in blockage of the sebacious glands. Sebacious glands produce sebum to help lubricate skin and hair. When they produce too much oil, the pores leading to the sebacious glands can become clogged with dead skin cells. Bacteria can then build up in the affected area and cause an abscess. The resulting blackhead or whitehead will occur at this point.

There are known causes of overactivity in sebacious glads. The most common is hormonal. The hormonal changes in the body during puberty results in approximately 80% of all adolecents being effected by acne. Stress is another culprit. If you are effected by acne, you should try to avoid stress at all costs. In addition, the body needs to be properly hydrated. If the body is not properly hydrated, the result could be that acne causing bacteria are unable to leave your body. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. You will also notice other positive health effects from a properly hydrated body.
